Helping needy Malagasy kids to become

Jesus’ kids!

April 2001                 Volume 4, Number 4

“Religion that God the Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
                                                            James 1:27

 Moving Mountains
“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."  Mathew 17:20 NIV

Mountains are being moved on the Betikara land.  Please do not take this the wrong way, we have faith, but we also have 15 strong backs, 7 wheel barrows, umpteen shovels, pick axes and pry bars to accomplish the task at hand of moving the mountains.  Preparations are continuing to make room for phase one of the Betikara building project.
Lord willing, by the end of June all things will be ready for the building project to begin.

Workers terracing the Betikara Land

In conjunction with the 15 men that are terracing the Betikara property, there are also 8 other men that have been working for one month now.  These men also have the monumental task of moving mountains, but their mountains are in the form of the numerous gigantic boulders that pepper the Betikara property.  Already they have produced over 10,000 rectangular shaped stones that will be used for the building foundations and for retaining walls to help terrace the Betikara property.

Piles and piles of stones

The 8 men say that at least another 10,000 stones are forthcoming.  They guarantee that “no stone will be left unturned” that can be used in the building project for the Betikara Lambs.  The “easy work” is being done right now.  Forthcoming is the time that we will petition the Malagasy Army for permission to use dynamite on the largest of the boulders that reside on the property.  Do not worry about our safety.  We will be nowhere near the property when the dynamite is being used.  Since these 8 men have all their limbs, I guess it is safe to assume that they know what they are doing when it gets right down to blowing things up.

Sad News
This last week we lost two of the Betikara Lambs.  Sondra and Annie were brought to us by the extended family.  It seemed that their mother was nowhere to be found.  This last week the mother showed up at Betikara and demanded to have her children.  We are sorrowed at the loss, but more so for Sondra and Annie who are now under their others care.  A mother who really doesn’t want to be responsible for them.  Please pray for the health and safety of these two former Betikara Lambs.

Happy News
Another term at school is completed for the Betikara Lambs.  Some of them continue to excel at their studies, while others are average.  Here is a list of their rankings.  The first number is there place after testing in each class.  The second number is the number of students in the classes.
