First Fruit for the Savior |
It’s in the His Work newsletter, but it’s so important to us that we
want to say it again and make sure you all see it. Betikara has produced
its first fruit for the Savior. Robert, the oldest of the Betikara
lambs, was baptized on Sunday, August 18th. The joy in the church
was more than you can imagine as one of the lambs, in whom so many have
poured so much love, care, and teaching, put on his Savior. Pray
with us for Robert as he begins his walk with Christ toward his heavenly
Father. We are so proud of him. |
Manna Relief
Special thanks to Rick and Sharon Sandlin, members of the Bay Area
Church of Christ in Florida, for connecting Betikara with the Manna Relief
Organization which has agreed to take on Betikara Orphanage as a part of
its Blessing Program. Manna Relief is dedicated to nourishing children
in need. Soon, they will begin sending high vitamin food supplements
to Madagascar for the Betikara Lambs. If you are interested in helping
Manna Relief to help the Betikara lambs, please visit their website.
Betikara’s Street Children Program
We started small because we really have little experience with street
children, and we’ve completed the first full year. Last September,
we took on partial responsibility for 14 children, all who have parents
but all who live in abject poverty, spending most of their days on the
streets. We outfitted the children with school needs and paid their
school fees. We provided partial physical nourishment and began a
program of spiritual nourishment. After one year we are still trying
to analyze our success. 0% of the parents followed through on any
of their promises as a part of the program. However, until January,
the 14 children gave 100% of their effort in attending school, personal
hygiene classes, Bible classes and worship at Betikara. In January
the political problems began and our street children program began to show
signs of failure. In July, 4 of the original children finished an
entire year of school. Two of those children placed very high in
their class. All four are still faithful in attending Center and
church activities. 4 out of 14! That’s success considering
the dearth of parental support. We intend on helping those 4 children
through another year of school!
