Friends new and old
I
wasn’t in Madagascar long. Betikara only had a handful of children
back then, but I had pinpointed a need and it has stuck with me through
the last six years. I had a dream and it has stuck with me all these
years too. Now, I’m working real hard to make that dream a reality.
Island living is a very insular sort of living and I see it in all Malagasy
people. I see it in the lambs of Betikara and I’m determined to help
them break free in a small way from that insular way of life.
Friends help, lots of friends, and we’ve been blessed with lots of friends
this month, friends new and old.
Just have a look!
Irma has been our friend for almost a year now!
Yann and Sylvie have been with us for five months,
and they’ve become good friends too.
Yann’s mom, Gilberte, visited this month and she
very
quickly became a fast friend of ours.

Greg Perry and Linda Egle made a quick visit but we
count them as friends too, and we look forward to seeing them again soon.
Read all about Greg and Linda in the His Work Newsletter.
Yann
returned to Switzerland this month to try to settle some personal needs,
and we are praying that he will return quickly. Sylvie is still with
us and we intend to enjoy her lots.
We even had a visitor from Australia this month, Peter Scheffler, who is
surveying Madagascar with the hope of returning to do mission work in the
future.
Now! I want to share my dream with you. It’s that dream about
helping some very isolated children learn more about the world around them
. It has to do with friends, and it has to do with someone who has
a special talent and can fill a special need here. I’ve shared this
dream with all of our friends, and they have backed away, feeling insecure,
saying that they were not artists. I’m not an artist either.
Maybe you are an artist of sorts, even an amateur artist, or someone who
enjoys artwork, and just maybe you can help me make this dream come true
for the lambs.
The new Betikara home has a very large empty wall in the dining room just
waiting for you to fill it up. I dream about a large scale map of
the world painted directly onto that wall. My dream isn’t just about
you. It’s about you and the children drawing and painting the map
together, and when the children can step back and realize they have learned
about the world and can say that it is a job well done, then it’s about
tacking photos like the photos in this newsletter up on the map so the
lambs can see exactly where their friends live.
Betikara would love to hear from you if you have caught the dream.
In the meantime, we are praying for all of our friends. You have
blessed us in so many different ways and so we bless you with prayer.
We love you all, Friends!
