Helping needy Malagasy kids to become

Jesus’ kids!

An Exciting Update
The lambs are excited, the caregivers are excited.  I think the Rosie family is the most excited of all.  School is almost out.  It’s been four long years of landscaping and building totally by hand right down to digging rock out of the hill and chiseling it into building stone.  Last June, we were forced to submit to another year at the inner-city house in town because of the electricity and water problem.  Now, we are almost ready for the big move.  The work crew is putting finishing touches on the inside of the building and every day we see wonderful changes.  We want to share a few of them with you.

Take a gander at our nice, big, new kitchen.  It’s not quite finished.  Water will be piped in this week and Barry plans to put a huge work table in the center of the room and build the stove right into it.

the bathrooms looked like this.

Now, they look even better than this.

On May 30th, the lambs sang, in their big new dining area, to an audience of 160 during our three congregation day of worship and fellowship.  Yep, we are almost finished with Phase I and it is very exciting.  A final coat of cement needs to be put on all floors.  Door frames and doors need painted.  Bathrooms are well on their way to being finished.  We have plans to put shelves in here and there in strategic places.
During the school break we anticipate that most of the lambs will go to visit extended family.  July will be their last month in town.  We hope to have them moved the first week in August.  That will be a day of celebration.

The Big Test
Three of the Betikara lambs, Prisca, Elisoa, and Elisa are up for a difficult day on Monday, June 7th, when they take the big elimination test to qualify for Junior High School.  For Prisca, this year will be her second try.  We are confident that Prisca and Elisoa will do well this year.  Elisa needs your special prayers.  She is a good kid and hard worker, but she had a huge disadvantage this year in that the teacher of her class was often sick and far under the normal standard.  Still, Elisa is forced to compete island wide with other students who had far better preparation than she.  Please pray, not only for Elisa but for all three girls as they take this oh-so-big step.

Sponsorship Update
Recently, several have written and asked about sponsoring a Betikara lamb.  That is still possible.  Last year, Betikara took in $53.00 per month per lamb but spent $82.00 per month per lamb, and that didn’t include clothing needs.  Currently, Betikara could use eleven more sponsors at $25.00 per month.  If you are interested in sponsoring a lamb, please write us either by hard mail or email and we will be happy to help you get to know one special lamb in a very personal way.

In Memory

The Betikara folks are praying for the families of:
Dale Craig
Norm Reeger
Inez Walker
Merion Williams
as they mourn the passing of their loved ones.  Those loved ones live on in the lives of the Betikara children.
