Helping needy Malagasy kids to become

Jesus’ kids!

October 2004                 Volume 7, Number 10

"A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor."    Proverbs 22:9

Meet the Betikara Workers

The entire Betikara staff (above) is dedicated to serving Malagasy homeless children.  Cooks (below), Justine and Hanitra, teach the children how to cook as they work to keep 17+ mouths filled.

Primary Caregivers, Tiana, Rivo, Nivo and Fano (above), are dedicated to loving the kids as well as teaching self-discipline, while Lycie and Omega (below) see to the children’s clothing needs.

Vao and Clarisse (above) keep the Betikara home clean as well as instructing the children in keeping their own home clean, and Tiana and Fetra (below) make sure everyone at Betikara is safe, as they give their nights to guarding the children, home, and property.

The entire Betikara staff needs your fervent and unceasing prayers as we strive to help the Betikara lambs to grow love as they grow in Him.  You are as much a part of the Betikara team as we are.

Christmas Advice
Many of you have already asked, “What can I do for my Betikara child for Christmas?”  We have several words of advice and several suggestions.
This year, we would prefer if the children receive something that can benefit the entire group instead of being the personal property of one child (ex. basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, softballs, rugby balls, large rubber kick balls, frisbees, board games, card games, badminton supplies, art paper, etc., etc.).  You can probably think of even more things than we can because so much is unavailable here.
If you prefer to send just for your child, please make it something very useful and needed.  We suggest a personal hygiene kit containing nail clippers, a comb and brush, some sweet smelling soap (the kids love that), shampoo, hair conditioner, lotion, a small hand mirror, etc. etc.
If you prefer to send money, please know that it will be used to buy items that will benefit the whole group.  Betikara still has need of kitchen supplies and utensils such as cake pans, bread pans, mixing bowls, and items that will enhance party times as well as teach the children useful skills.
Whatever you choose, please keep in mind that we are now faced with orphans who get much and church children who are very very poor.  A group gift will benefit both.  Thank you so much for caring and for loving.
