Helping needy Malagasy kids to become

Jesus’ kids!

Arbor Day at Betikara
It was a wonderfully sunny day on this vacation-from-school day.  The lambs woke up early and anxiously awaited their visitors from the United States and Switzerland.  Three generations, six members of the Doyle Kee family arrived early and the whole gang (Kees and lambs) spent this special day planting trees at Betikara.  They planted 60 fruit trees (lychee, loquat, two varieties of tangerine trees, peach, and kaki to add to the existing 40 tree avocado orchard) and 50 border eucalyptus trees.  Now the lambs have the new responsibility of keeping all these trees watered.

Betikara welcomes Voahangy to our staff

She has quite a few years of experience teaching in the Malagasy school system and she’s agreed to give her afternoons Monday thru Friday to the lower school lambs.  Her specialty is preparing Malagasy children for the cutthroat qualifying exams for the junior level.  We have four lambs this year who are blessed by the Father through Voahangy as she helps them prepare for their turn at the test in June.  Another three are receiving early preparation.  They will not take the test until June of 2006, but they have plenty of time to start preparing now.
We thank God for Voahangy and we ask your prayers as we continue to find just the right teacher to supplement the education of our junior high school lambs.  Two of them prepare this year to take the high school qualifying exam.
Be sure and look closely at Betikara’s new school desks thanks to a promised donation from the American School in Antananarivo.

She’s done it again, folks!

Congratulations once again to Elisoa.  This year she is attending a very difficult private school.  In one way we despaired when she was refused entrance into the public schools due to overcrowding.  On the other hand we are grateful that she is getting more of the chance she deserves to go just as far as she can in her education. There are 58 students in Elisoa’s class this year, and yet again she has placed first after semester exams and class rankings.  We are so proud of her!
