Helping needy Malagasy kids to become

Jesus’ kids!

Hoorah!  New Lambs!

I wrote in last month’s Betikara newsletter:

“God will see that Betikara receives just the children that He intends for us.”

Front:  Twins!  Fitiavana and Fitahina
Back:  Sarobidy and Robina

I wrote those words in an attempt to comfort myself.  We were all very disappointed in the trip to the twins orphanage down south and our lack of success in helping both the orphanage and the children by taking off some of its overflow.  God had a different plan in mind.  Almost as soon as Barry returned from the south we received some dear children into the orphanage who had been on the Betikara doorstep for years, and the youngest two are twins (see photo above).
This little group of four lambs belong to a family of nine children.  They are numbers five, six, seven, and eight.  Mom died just after the ninth was born.  These four attended children’s Bible classes at Ankadivato almost since they were born.  I wanted to get them into the orphanage years ago when I saw the conditions under which they lived, but a neighbor advised us not to try saying that the mother and father work very hard to keep their family together.  That situation changed when Mom passed away, and Dad trusts Betikara because he has known us for years.

Left to Right:  Sahaza, Tsilavina, Anjara
Left to Right:  Elisa, Hasina, Elia

Quickly following that set of siblings, Betikara has received two more sets of siblings (see photos on front page right).  We are overjoyed to add ten new lambs to the flock, bringing the total number in our little flock to 25.  God has blessed us richly and we feel honored that He has placed this trust in us.
This week we should finish the court process on our little Comorian friend who was abandoned by her parents here more than ten years ago.  She will bring our number to 26, and we will stop there until we can get these new little lambs settled into a routine, and for some of them, settled into school for the first time in their lives.
God is blessing and we are confident that He will continue to bless.  None of these new little lambs have sponsors yet.  If you are interested in sponsoring a little lamb and need more information, please contact us directly at

brosie@wanadoo.mg

We would be happy to inform you about sponsors, and the blessing they have been to these homeless children of Madagascar and to the entire Betikara project.  We deeply appreciate the financial and emotional support you give to our little lambs and we ask God’s blessing on your for your serving hearts and spirits.

The roof is finished on the ten classrooms that compromise Phase II
(the school) of the Betikara orphanage.
