Then and Now
Christmas 1999

Christmas 2005
The first flock of lambs
and the second

|
It was 1999,
Christmas at Betikara, and more than a year since Betikara took in its
first lamb. This was the whole gang (with Kit and Havilah added in,
if you look closely). They were so little and so cute.
It’s been six
years since then. We’ve moved the kids to their new home and we now
have two flocks of lambs. The first flock is made up of the oldsters,
and this year we have a second flock, Betikara’s newest lambs. They
are so little and so cute.
Both flocks
had a wonderful Christmas this year. We met together on Saturday
the 24th, for singing, prayer, Christmas lunch together, and goodies.
Six years ago, Betikara was 14 people. This year we numbered 50,
and we wish you could have been there!
50 gathered together for Christmas fun in 2005.
We were so many that we couldn’t fit everyone into
one picture.
Many Thanks
Betikara would
like to say a heartfelt thank you to our friends who helped make our Christmas
special and to our friends who make sure we have food to eat everyday,
clothes to wear, a chance to go to school, and medicine when we are sick.
We deeply appreciate the love you show us each day and each year.
We are praying His blessings upon you in the new year.
Thanks to Christmas
sharing, Betikara has a new refrigerator in our kitchen, new kitchen utensils,
and will soon have two new ping pong tables, two baskets and backboards
on our basketball court. Each child received a new pair of shoes
and they got to go to town and pick out the shoes themselves thanks to
Rivo’s loving heart and sense of Christmas sharing. The older children
each received a fresh supply of personal hygiene goods and the younger
children received new clothes. Everyone involved with Betikara in
this country enjoyed a Christmas feast together and the only thing missing
was you.
World Wide Youth Camps
Greg Perry visited
a few years ago. His brother David visited just last year.
In 2006, David and Greg, founders of World Wide Youth Camps are trying
to put together a short term mission effort to Madagascar and Betikara
in July of this new year. Please keep them in your prayers and please
visit their website: www.wwyc.org
If you are interested
in joining this group that is heading to Madagascar in July, please feel
free to call David and Greg and let them know you would like to join the
group. Betikara welcomes you. You will enjoy the lambs as well
as blessing them, and you will go back home a changed person.
