More Lambs for Betikara
The number of Lambs at Betikara continues to climb.  We have so many people wanting us to take on children that we could not possibly house all of them and still provide one bed for each child that is cared for by Betikara.  Some of the children are too old for Betikara to start caring for at the present time.  Some of the children are too young.  Others do not have all of the required governmental paperwork in order, so we can accept them.  All of these above items make it hard for us to explain to prospective extended families of children.  We had fifteen places left until recently when school let out for the winter months in mid June.  We could have filled all of the places right now, but we decided that it was better to take on only half of the fifteen in order to allow the new children more space and time to adjust to living in an orphanage setting.

Out of the masses we have found 8 new children.  The children are pictured by sibling groups.  Three of the children are boys and the remaining five are girls.  Seven of the children have at least one dead parent.  One of the children (Gilbert) has no mother or father.  Until recently the congregation at Ambohimarina was helping the mother of Gilbert with medical costs.  We are sorry to say that the hospitals could not heal her and she passed away in the month of August leaving Gilbert by himself.

We are now busy trying to get the new children ready for school.  Some of them are going to be starting the first week in September and others will start in mid September.  We are trying to get them all outfitted and all of the necessary school supplies for the coming school year.  We continue to work daily to make sure that everything is going well for the new arrivals.

Just today we had our regular Wednesday morning staff meeting and time of Bible study.  During that time we discussed several items.  We need to increase the amount of rice that is given each week.  The money for fruits and vegetables needs to be increased.  We also discussed adding more soap for bathing and washing clothes.  We gave out the necessary bedding for the new children, but were told today that some of the children are to cold at night.  So, we passed out more blankets to keep them warm.  Things like this are just part of the ripple effect that goes through the orphanage each time we take in new children.  In a week or so we should have everything under control.
