Christmas Fun - 2008
This Christmas season was a lot of fun. We were able to spend a lot of time together and share more than usual. Of course, the Lambs received a lot of gifts from various sources. And there was a lot of good eating over the holidays. The Lambs really enjoyed being able to choose their meals for both Christmas Day and New Years Day.
But the one item that we all greatly enjoyed together was the outing that was made possible by many of your donations. We were able to rent a bus (about 60 people went along) and take a trip about 20 miles (30 kilometers) south of the capital city so that the Lambs could have a change of scenery and a lot of fresh air for a day. We prepared by cooking food, filling water jugs and making sure that all of the Lambs were ready for a day out in the heat and the sun. Here are some pictures of our Analamanga trip.
Dinand
at the Entrance to the Analamanga Park Dinand, Mbola, his two children, Havilah and myself went on ahead of the bus to get things set up and be ready to receive the busload of eager Lambs. We waited quite a while, more than an hour for the bus. We found out that there was a problem with the police at one of the many check points along the route. Finally the bus arrived.
It was then that all of the fun started for the day. The Lambs were free to play many different games. The smaller Lambs were happy to play miniature soccer (football) on the game tables, and try their hand at basketball. Of course if you think a 10 foot high goal is difficult for Americans you should see Malagasy children trying to get the ball into the hoop.
You can see that even the older Lambs had a go at basketball. The
proceeding picture is proof that at least one basket was made during the
Lambs outing. However, the older Lambs were more interested in soccer
(football) and even came prepared to play with full uniforms and
protection for a really rough and tough game. Then there were some who were not interested in games. They were just content to be able to have time to sit around and visit with each other and enjoy the area. All in all, the Lambs holiday season outing was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.
