Greetings
to Fellow Laborers,
We have survived the month of December! Not that it was a taxing month, but a very full month of work. We thank the Lord for His guidance and care that is always shown towards us as we labor in His vineyard.
Our course from the 3rd to the 9th of December
went very well. Two classes were
taught. One called "Back to the
Bible" showing people the need to return to following the Bible only; and
the other "Jesus" about the life and customs of our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ. Also, two times a day an
hour session of preaching was attended with lessons that reinforced what was
being taught in the classrooms. Out of
the 21 students that came, 12 were non-Christians, and of those 12
non-Christians, 5 have already dedicated their lives to following our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ. Our prayer to God
now is that they can be taught and remain faithful. Please remember them in
your daily communication to our Lord.
At the yearly meeting for South Nyanza 100-125
people attended, some from as far as 250 miles away. There were 17 churches represented and 6 different
languages. The languages were: Luo,
Abaluya, Kisii, Swahili, English and Deaf signing. Many lessons were taught from God's Word and the fellowship that
was enjoined helped strengthen many of us. This year since the need for group
fellowship is so great, two meetings or retreats have been planned for the
churches. One in June, and the other in December. This is along with the yearly retreat for the women, which will
be held in August.
Our personal goals for the new year are as
follows:
1. To
develop 3 new churches by teaching at each area at least 3, sometimes 4 times a
month. This will amount to 30 or more
lessons in a year’s time for each church.
Also, to meet with each church at least once during the year on Sunday.
2. To
encourage and promote growth in at least 6 of the existing congregations. Our plan is to preach 4 consecutive Sunday's
(from the book of John in each congregation.
My lessons will have two aims: one,
to encourage them as a body of Christians, the other, to encourage them to
reach out to the surrounding villages, using Christ as their model. This will be followed by a 4-day
evangelistic meeting in each area.
Your prayers to God for these efforts of
outreach during the year are requested.
Paul has well said, "I can do all things through Christ which
strengthens me", Philippians 4:13.
Our prayer is that Christ will strengthen us for the task that is at
hand.
Your prayers and letters continue to be an
encouragement in our daily live: We thank the Lord because of you. The work in Kenya depends on your prayers,
concern and support. Without you none
of this would be possible. Until next
month we pray the Lord will bless you richly.
In Christian Service,
