Dear friends and fellow workers for Christ,

Greetings from America!  We are finally here, on our first furlough.  And we're anxious to share our work with you, and to share in your work for a short while.  OH.'  It will be so nice to sing and pray in English again.  And Barry is especially looking forward to getting some spiritual feeding for a change. You know, it's exhausting to always have to be the teacher, and to never be spiritually fed yourself.  We are looking forward to sitting back a few times to soak in some spiritual food.  And a visit with all of you will be so much fun!
After spending the last 18 hours on airplanes, and hustling and bustling through airline terminals, we plan to spend the first few weeks in Michigan, letting Grandpa and Grandma Rosie enjoy their new grandbaby.  Of course, Barry will be speaking to the churches in the area.  And then we'll be off on a trek south, visiting and sharing along the way, stopping in Pittsburgh, of course, to let Grandpa and Grandma Morsey also enjoy their new grandchild. Soon, we'll be in your area and enjoying a visit with you.
First furlough is so exciting!  Seeing all of you, and partaking of some stateside goodies again will be so nice.  But!  A part of our hearts are still with the Christians in South Nyanza.  Arid we can't help thinking and worrying a little about our Luo brethren, wondering how they are getting along, if they are remaining faithful, and hoping that their problems are not too overwhelming for their newfound faith.
This last month has been particularly hard on Barry.  Each of the 30 churches and preaching points all wanted him to come and say "Oriti" (goodbye) before leaving.  And many have expressed their anxiety over our leaving even for a short while. They are so new in Christ and are feeling very vulnerable.  When Barry visited with them, they attempted to keep him just as long as possible in order to study longer and gain an extra ounce of understanding to help them remain strong.  So, even while we are so happy to be with all of you for the next few months, we are also struggling with the desire to be with our Luo brethren.  Your prayers in their behalf will give us great comfort as we visit here to share with you.  Please try to remember them and their struggles in your daily talk with God.
        See you real soon!

                                                                                        For Christ,
