Fellow Laborers,
Hope this finds you are all well. We
have been well, but
very busy. About the time you receive this newsletter, Thanks-
giving time will be close. As we see how things work and people
live in Kenya, we realize just how much America has to be thankful
for. During this time of thanksgiving let's all pray to God
thanking Him for all the blessings we have received.
There is a growing problem in South Nyanza.
HUNGER!! We
are just now seeing how wide spread and overwhelming it is
becoming. Presently, l0 congregations (some 500 people including
children) are being affected, and other congregations say they
will be hurting in the next few months. The cause has been too
much rain. People have replanted, but now the area is becoming
overly dry. We hope the weather will stabilize, allowing good
crops in the future, but things do not look promising. Recovery
may take up to a year.
Money ($1,000.00) has been received for hunger,
but it will
not last long. Just to feed the people who are now hungry will
take approximately $600.00 a month. $600.00 will buy fifty 200
pound sacks of corn at $12.00 a sack. The cost of corn is not
much, but the amount needed is staggering. It is our plea, that
each family who reads this newsletter will contribute at least
$12.00, if at all possible. When you consider that $12.00 will
feed 10 adults for a month, you can see that our request is not
unreasonable. If your family goes out to eat one time this month,
you will spend more in a night than it takes to feed l0 adults
for a month.
We ask you to consider helping, if at all possible.
As you
thank the Lord at this time of year, your Luo brothers and sisters
will also be thanking Him for your concern and help. Any amount
you can give will be appreciated by all of us, during this time of
need.
We continue to pray for your efforts in America
as you serve
the Lord. Please remember us in your prayers also. Write
when
you get a chance. We enjoy hearing from you.
In His Service,
Barry, Stacy and Kit
