Fellow Laborers in Christ's Vineyard,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Hope this letter finds your reflection on 1988 a good one for the work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Our last year has gone very fast with many rewards along the way.  Sure there have been some problems, but we can see the power and guidance of the Lord in our daily lives.  We want to take this time to thank some of you for helping with one of those problems.  The money that has been received for hunger is greatly appreciated not only by us, but by your Luo brothers and sisters who have grown stronger in the Lord because of your concern and help.
The coming of 1989 has arrived in South Nyanza with a bang.  We are already very busy.  There have been 10 major meetings and courses planed throughout the year so far.  Five of the 10 being 6 day courses of teaching.  Our Sundays have already been booked through the month of April.  Trying to see all of the present 35 congregations at least one time this year on a Sunday for worship along with the courses and meetings that will fall on Sundays will be a major undertaking in itself.  It is our desire to start holding leadership training courses in South Nyanza.  Our first meeting to present this idea (leadership training) to the national brethren will take place this month.  There is no worry about this idea being well received, but it will entail a lot of time in preparation and study on our behalf.
Lord willing we will be working on translating several different books of course materials from English to Luo, and printing them to be used in some of the courses we are planning for this year.  Many of the Christians have asked us for books to help them find passages of scripture that relate to a certain topic.  It is our desire to take a topical index that is presently in Swahili, translate it in the Luo language, and give each congregation at least two copies for use in sermon preparation and as a guide in church problems.
We pray that your year in the Lords kingdom will be as full and rewarding as ours.  We pray that the Lord will work in our lives and use them for the growth of His Kingdom here on earth.  Knowing that we can do all things, through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13) and that God will supply all our needs through His son Christ Jesus, (Philippians 4:19) is a great comfort as we look at all that is before us this year.

For His cause,
