Dear fellow Christians,

Greetings from the other side of the world.  Our health has
vastly improved over the last month.  Kit still has a runny nose
and slight fever, but we are attributing this to his eye teeth
that are all trying to arrive at the same time.  We thank you for
you concern and prayers on our behalf.  We trust that you are all
well and working daily to bring souls to our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ.
This last month has been a month of preparation for the most
part.  We have gone out less to teach and have spent more time in
the office.  First, there are many teaching materials that we are
getting set up for future courses.  Second, we are making
preparations for our annual church growth study.  And third, we
are making a new work schedule for 1990 that will include my
parents, who are due to arrive in Kenya on the 12th of October
and spend a year helping us with the Lords work among the Luo
people.  We are anxiously looking forward to their arrival
knowing that their age and wisdom will be a great help in the
coming year.  To a Luo, age, gray hair, and grandchildren spell
much wisdom.
Because we are the only family presently working among the
Luo people of South Nyanza, the church growth study will take at
least two months to complete for various reasons.  First, there
are over 45 congregations that have to be reached.  Second, we
are in the process of changing over from our past church growth
method to a new method.  And third, some days when we go out, we
are only able to reach two churches due to the far distances that
we travel over dirt roads.  We hope that in the future the
churches will be able to fill out the required forms on their own
and mail them in to us.  This will save about a month and a half
each year.  We are trying to make things go smoother this year by
alerting the churches before hand of our intentions, and also
letting them know the type of information that we will be
needing, in hopes that they will be prepared for our arrival at
their location.
Forty ladies met this month for the bi-yearly ladies
retreat.  We considered it a big success and the Luo ladies are
already planning for the next one which will be in April of 1990.
They studied the book of Esther during the weekend and all
learned a lot that can be applied to our lives today.  Please
pray for these ladies.  They have little control over much of
their lives here on this earth, and possessing the heart of
Christ gives them the blessing of freedom to choose the way they
will live in eternity.
Once again, we would like to remind you of the address
change that has taken place.  Please note the above highlighted
address and make sure that all of your correspondence is being
sent to this new address.  Doing so, will greatly help Jeff Young
in receiving your monthly support checks and letters.
Please pray for us concerning the work that will be done in
the coming months.  Especially pray for the Lords' Body here in
South Nyanza, that it may continue to grow both spiritually and
numerically.  Write when you get a chance and continue to serve
the Lord daily.

For Christ,

Barry, Stacy and Kit
