Hello from Kenya,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. We pray that the Lord
continues to bless you in America. We are well for the most part.
Kit, however, has been
sick for the last two weeks with what we now think is Typhoid.
The doctors are treating
him here locally in Kisii, and we are considering going into Nairobi
for further testing.
He had a temperature for awhile which seems to have left him.
We look at this as a good
sign and pray that he will continue to recover.
I have been in contact with Brother Young
at Fraley's Chapel concerning the status of
the vehicle fund. Presently about 30 individuals
have contributed and 3 congregations.
The amount that has been contributed so far, is about $4,000.00
(which is about 1/6th of
the needed amount of $25,000.00. Some have mentioned that
this does not look very good.
However, I think it is a very good start. Many congregations
are presently aware of our
need and will contribute in the future, Lord willing. If you
know of any congregations or
individuals that might help us in this endeavor please inform
them. The addresses that
contributions can be sent to are at the top of the newsletter.
It would be best to send
any money to Jeff Young at Fraley's Chapel, labeled VEHICLE FUND,
due to the chance of it
being lost in the mail.. However, we will accept checks if you
wish to send them directly
to us (labeled VEHICLE FUND).
We have been able to repair the transmission
in the truck at a cost of $700.00 for
parts (we always do the labor). Yesterday, however, while doing
some general maintenance,
we noticed that the frame on both sides where the springs
are mounted in the rear have
major cracks (about one foot long each) that we will try
to deal with next week. You
cannot even begin to understand what a vehicle goes through on these
roads. Running these
roads makes the Baja in California look like a breeze.
Joash Kadwe is still in need of your
prayers. Joash is very weak, but seems to be
thinking a little clearer these days. I have been out to
see Joash recently, and found
that another person who is a fallen member is now causing problems
in the area. When I
went to talk to this person he refused to stop bothering
all concerned and be one in
Christ. I mentioned bringing the local chief in the area
to settle the problem, and he
said that was fine. He seems to be set in his ways. The
chief has been to visit the area
once and this afternoon dad and myself are to meet the chief,
and go once again to talk
about this problem. We ask that you remember this situation and
pray that the way of the
Lord can be followed.
We have been reading a lot about
the crisis in the Gulf. We are continuing
to
remember the United States in our prayers during this time of tension
and decision making.
We pray that it will all work out for the best, so that
world peace can be truly known.
May the church in America be strong and an example to the
nation in the coming months.
God bless you all.
A servant for Christ,
Barry J. Rosie
