Dear family in Christ,

Greetings in the name of  our Lord and Saviour  Jesus Christ.  Hope  this
finds that your new  year is starting out  well.  We are  all doing well,  and
glad to see the new year finally arrive.
The year of 1990 has been very eventful in many ways.  We are starting to
see a few individuals and congregations that are willing to step out on faith,
and grow in the way  that the Lord would have  them.  Two congregations  (Dudi
and Soko) have  installed elders and  deacons, one of  which (Soko), has  also
appointed a preacher and teacher for their congregation.  We ask that you pray
for both  of these  congregations, especially  for Dudi,  because they  are  a
fairly new  congregation.   Some congregations  are doing  more and  more  for
themselves instead  of relying  on the  missionary to  do everything.    Still
others are starting to watch over their congregations spiritual well being  in
the local community, and  acting upon those people  or things that would  give
the Lord's body a bad name.  For these things we give glory to God.
The Moon family have  settled in somewhat and  have started studying  Luo
language with a tutor.  Roger and Sue have been a great help to us spiritually
and emotionally these last two  months. They have also  helped us to see  many
things more clearly than in the past.  For this we thank the Lord.
We have received some good news about the vehicle for which we are trying
to raise funds.  In the  past in order to be  eligible to apply for duty  free
status on a vehicle, a church or mission group, had to belong to the  National
Council of Churches in  Kenya, which was made  up of denominational  churches.
Recently this  was changed  allowing each  church or  mission group  to  apply
separately.  Since the change two  church of Christ missionaries have  applied
for, and been granted duty free status on vehicles.  We pray that we can  also
be granted duty free status.  If possible, we would only need about $10,000.00
more, instead of close to $20,000.00, depending on the make of vehicle and current
prices.   I say this because the vehicle  that we are shooting for, was $25,000.00
when we started to raise funds.  Now it is over $30,000.00.
We continue to think of you often as we labor for our Lord here in  South
Nyanza.  We pray the Lord's richest blessings upon you in this new year.   May
the Lord challenge you and strengthen you in your daily walk with Him.  Please
write when you  have a chance,  or call and  talk with us  for a few  minutes.
Remember you can dial direct.  The number is at the top of this newsletter.

Your Brother,
