To our Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It does not seem possible  that another two months have  already passed since I  last
wrote a newsletter.   However,  it was  two months  ago (January  2) that  Kit's cast  was
removed from his leg.   He is doing  well now and  running and playing all  the time.   We
praise the Lord for Kit's healing.
We have  been very  busy in  the work.   Many  fruits can  be seen  because of  God's
concern, (along with  yours) for  the Luo  people of  South Nyanza.   Their  is a  growing
awareness in the church, that is causing  some of the Luo Christians to commit  themselves
to the Lord's task that is at hand.  Some Christians that in the past traveled around are
now staying with  their home  congregations, encouraging  and strengthening  them.   These
congregations are learning to give to the Lord both physically and spiritually.
We are concentrating on maturing the  present congregations, which is a slow  process
at times.  Congregations grow at different speeds, and many times you cannot see  physical
growth in numbers, because spiritual growth is what is taking place.  For example, I  have
worked with Ruga Gem congregation now for about 4 1/2 years.  Ruga Gem was a  congregation
that fell away for  a time.  Then  one day we were  called to go and  baptize 8 souls  and
rededicate those that had fallen away.  About  12 people started worshipping the Lord on  a
regular basis.  Since that  time I have seen  many good things come  out of that group  of
Christians.  Now,  there are men  who can stand  and teach, men  who have good  leadership
capabilities, and unity in a congregation that we would all covet.
Also, Ruga Gem has been  responsible for starting two  other congregations.  In  this
area the Lord has truly blessed the Christians of Ruga Gem with growth.  At the  beginning
of the Kanjiri congregation, (which Ruga Gem started)  I would do all of the teaching  and
answering of biblical questions.  Eventually that changed.  As time passed the men of Ruga
Gem took on more  of the teaching  responsibilities.  However,  the men were  apprehensive
about answering questions  that were presented  by the local  people.  In  this area  they
needed to be pushed a little.  To encourage this, I reassured them that if they could  not
answer a  question that  I would.  However,  not before  they went  home and  studied  the
question for a week.  This worked out well since it caused them to search, and think about
God's word instead of just read it in passing.
The Ruga Gem Congregation has grown  to about 30 souls now.   They also, have men  in
their congregation that are capable of being elders and deacons in the near future.   Soon
I will be teaching that topic, with  hopes that by the end of  this year I can move on  to
another congregation.  Please pray for this congregation and for me, as I work along  side
these Christians while maturing them in the Lord's kingdom.

In His Service,
