To my friends in "Merica",

Hi everybody!  It's me!  Kit Boodle!  And I asked Momma could I  write you another letter.  She said yes.  I been lernin where Merica is.  Everyday I ask Momma, "Where's Merica?"  She  tries to splain it to me but I'm not sure I unnerstand yet.  Something bout  lots of water, and far away, and Grandma  and Grandpa and my other Grandpa live there.  I do know  one thing though.  Next year (whenever  that is) we are going to  get on a big airplane and come and see you in Merica.  That sounds fun.  I been  lernin all bout airplanes.  I really wanna come to Merica now but Momma and Poppa say we are too busy.  And that is sure the truth!
Poppa and Momma had four weekend meetings in August and I had three.  We  were busy all right.   First Momma went and I stayed home to protect Poppa.   She took some of her Luo sisters and they went  to a church meeting to let the  ladies know that they love them.  Then, me and Momma went to a ladies meeting to Winyo church, and Poppa went to a meeting at Awendo church.  Nobody was home that weekend.  We stayed overnight for two nights and everything.  I  got to take a bath in the spring, eat lots of cornmeal  mush and omena (little dried fish that taste like tatoe chips to me) and guess what?  One night, Momma put me in bed early cause I was tired.  She put me in my friend Ochieng's bed and when I woke up there were nine kids in the bed with me.  Boy! Was I surprised!  I never slept in a bed with nine kids before.  It's fun to sleep in my Luo friends mud houses and eat their kind of food, but I'm not so sure it's fun to sleep in one little bed with nine kids.
That takes some gettin used to.  The next weekend we stayed home but we went one day to the Kisii meeting.  My best friend Evanzie was there and he helped me to play with lots of other kids.  We snuck in the cookhouse and they gave me chai and mandazi (tea and donut).  Now that was fun!  And then before the month was over I had my own little chokruok  (meeting) at our house in the fireplace.  That's our little church building.  Me and Evanzie and Bayo and the other little kids go in the fireplace.  We take songbooks and sing and then I get to teach.  Sometimes I let Evanzie teach too.  He knows lots of Jesus stories.  Last week  we broke Mommas bowl
that we were trying to use for Jesus Supper.  And you know what?  She didn't even get mad.  She said how could she get mad at us when we were trying to eat Jesus Supper?  It sure was a relief not to get spanked.
BAPTISMS BAPTISMS BAPTISMS!  I have heard so much bout baptism this month.  I can't wait till I get big so I can get baptize too.  26 people were baptize this month.  That's a lot!   It made Momma and Poppa so happy.  I was happy too.  But I would be happier if I could get baptize.  Now Momma and Poppa say we will be real busy with all the new people to teach.   I'm lernin to teach too.  I can tell you lots of Jesus stories.
And I can pray by myself too.  I'm lerning lots of things bout bein a missionary.
You know what I'm confused about though?  I hardly know these days what language I'm supposed to speak.  Evanzie and Bayo, my best friends, speak Kisii.  Lenny and Stacy and Moi, my other friends, speak Luo.  Poppa speaks to me in English.   Some people try to speak to me in Swahili, and now I'm learning to speak to deaf people with my hands.  It sure is confusing.  I had to ask Momma what language to use to write this letter.  She said english would be best.  I'm teaching Evanzie to speak English and he's lernin real fast.
You know what?  I love you and I am prayin for you.  Can you pray for me and Momma and Poppa too?  Momma says we need lots of prayers to be able to teach the Luos what  Jesus wants.  She says we all need His help.  So I'm prayin for Him to help you and I hope you will pray for Jesus to help us too.  Ero  kamano ahinya! Thank you very much!  I'll write again when Momma lets me.

Because we love Jesus,
