A trip to Abilene is now included in Barry’s schedule. Due to the changes that have come about Barry will leave Abilene, Texas and head north passing through Parsons, Kansas as he goes further north. This schedule will mean going north to report to congregations that we did not have time for in the month of August. This means passing through parts of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia for a second time. Barry then plans a trip back to Faulkner University to check on Kit before he travels to Florida to continue reporting to River Road Church of Christ in New Port Richey, Bay Area Church of Christ in Mango, and North Brevard Church of Christ in Titusville.

At this point, Barry is planning on spending Christmas with Kit and his family before returning to Madagascar. If this is the case, our vehicle will be left in Florida with Barry’s parents instead of being returned to Michigan where the Rosie family started their journey to visit family, churches, and Christian friends. Please pray without ceasing for the Rosie family as we journey our separate ways in the coming months.

Did You Know. . .

. . . that the president of Madagascar is going to be visiting Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas this month. President Marc Ravalomanana will be visiting Abilene because Abilene Christian University is presently teaching 25 Malagasy students. The visit of President Ravalomanana will be at the same time that I am going to be in Abilene visiting the Upton family, the Malagasy students, Betikara supporters and a church run organization that is interested in sending supplies to Madagascar.

Please pray for these 25 students because many of them are hearing about our Lord and Savior for the first time in their lives, and few of them have already been baptized.

this and that

Change of Elders at Fraley’s Chapel

Please note that the elders for Fraley’s Chapel Church of Christ, which is our sponsoring congregation have changed. The old elders were Eugene Holland and Jerry Bates. The new elders are Phillip Young (Tel. 662-286-2995) and Mike Whitehurst (Tel. 662-287-7631). You can look at the front of this newsletter and future newsletters to see their telephone numbers.

Many different addresses

After talking with some of the Christians at Fraley’s Chapel Church of Christ it has been brought to my attention that checks that are received for the Madagascar work and the Rosie family are coming to three different addresses. It would sure help make things easier if all of the checks were sent to one address. Please note the address on the front page of this newsletter. This address, is the preferred address for mailing checks.

Fraley's Chapel Church of Christ

c/o Phillip Young

140 C.R. 170

Corinth, MS  38834

This address has not changed for many years. It is the address that will get your checks into the hands of Phillip Young who is now an elder at Fraley’s Chapel and is overseeing the finances for the Madagascar work and the Rosie family. If you send checks to some of the addresses that you are currently using on a monthly basis the checks will still arrive, but there is a delay in the checks getting to brother Young who is responsible for recording your contributions and getting them to the bank.

Visiting Churches

Our family is now in three different places so it makes it a little difficult to write this section of the newsletter. I was going to write that we have already been in the United States for two months now and we have already visited several congregations and have received a warm welcome from everyone along the way.

However, some of us as you know were only in the states for three weeks. So, it would be more appropriate for me to write that I have already been in the United States for two months now. I am still receiving a warm welcome from everyone along the way and it has been good to be able to see you face to face and report on the ongoing work that we are doing for Him in Madagascar.

Many of you have asked some very good questions about the church, orphanage, school situation and the Malagasy people in general. I would like to take this opportunity to say that we are always willing to answer your questions. You do not have to wait four to seven years for us to come to the states and visit your respective congregations. You can always write us a letter, send us an e-mail or call us with your questions at any time. Our address for letters and e-mail are always on the back page of every newsletter along with our telephone number. So, please get in touch with us if you are wondering about the work in Madagascar.

Your prayers for the work in Madagascar are very much coveted. If there is any way we can help you pray more specifically from day to day please get in touch with us.

Miniature Missionaries

I must begin by saying that this last month has to be one of the most emotional times of my life. I took Kit down to Faulkner twice. The first time was on August 23, 2007 (then on September 3, 2007 which was Labor Day for Kit to officially enter the dorm and start Freshman Experience, which is a week of required orientation classes for new students) so that we could make sure that his paperwork was okay. We  opened Kit’s first ever checking account with a Visa Debit Card. However, up to this point we are having major problems with both the checking account and the debit card. Kit does not have a drivers license so the bookstore at Faulkner University will not accept a check from him. Kit cannot use his debit card because he has not received the PIN number yet in the mail. Classes start for Kit on September 10, 2007 and he cannot purchase his books until he gets something straightened out with either the Faulkner University Bookstore or he receives the PIN number for his debit card. Please pray that this and everything else will work out.

As promised in last months newsletter here is the long awaited information for Kit. Please put his address on packages or letters just the way you see it below to insure that he receives what you send.

Faulkner University                                                                E-mail: kit.rosie@faulkner.edu

Kit Rosie  Box # 319                                                              Telephone: 1-334-868-3308

5345 Atlanta Hwy

Montgomery, AL 36109-3390

At the present time Kit does not have voice mail set up on his telephone, but you can send him SMS messages. Please be careful to not talk to long, since your call will use time off of Kit’s phone. Kit has a NET 10 phone and it costs him 10 cents a minute to call or receive calls from people. Right now with Kit’s banking problems he will not be able to purchase more time for his phone if his account runs out of time.

Many of you have graciously asked if you can send care packages to Kit. Everything should be in order for him to receive your packages, so send away. Kit has already received a couple of packages at the above address so we know it works. Some people have asked what kinds of things that Kit likes to eat. Here is a short list of things that I have seen him eating in the last month. Skittles, regular but he especially likes the sour Skittles, Jawbreakers, Beef Jerky of any kind, Tic Tac, potato chips, various cookies, root beer soda or pop depending on where you live, the kind of wavy thin noodles that come in one serving size packages that you can add water and cook in a microwave and then add the small seasoning package. I have seen Kit eat several different flavors of these noodles, but he likes beef and chicken especially. These are the kind of noodles that you can get at Wal-Mart that are very inexpensive, not the boxed noodles, rather the noodles that are in clear plastic.

Please continue to pray for Kit and his parents as we go through this very emotional time in our lives. Stacy has told me that she is very concerned for Kit and wishes that we could all be together for this time of adjustment in Kit’s life.

What can you do?
You can pray!

¨       Pray for the Malagasy Christians and the congregations that are worshiping our Lord in Madagascar. Pray especially for the Ambohimarina congregation because we cannot be with them on a daily basis. Pray that they can grow through this experience.

¨       Pray for Kit as he tries to settle into Faulkner University. Pray that he will find some good Christian friends that can help him get through this transition of leaving family and starting to study in a university setting.

¨       Pray for Stacy, Havilah and I as we are separated for the next four months. Pray that Stacy will be able to handle all of the daily needs in Madagascar without me being there to assist her.
